One of the most recognizable cat breeds in the world, the Persian has a flat face, large round eyes, and an exceptionally long, luxurious coat that requires daily grooming to stay mat-free. Calm, gentle, and quiet by nature, Persians are the classic “lap cat,” preferring relaxed environments over high-energy play. They form deep, steady bonds with their families and tend to be undemanding, affectionate companions. Because of their flat facial structure, some Persians need regular eye and facial-fold cleaning, and they're more sensitive to heat. Daily brushing and occasional professional grooming are typically needed to keep their coat healthy and comfortable.
